The New Neighborhood in the Heart of Copenhagen
Soon, the foundation of the new neighborhood in Copenhagen, Jernbanebyen (The Railway District), will be laid. Positioned at the heart of the city, Jernbanebyen constitutes a pivotal point in the development of Copenhagen. Jernbanebyen will be a green, healthy, and diverse neighborhood with two parks, accommodating residences and businesses, ranging from large to small apartments as well asretail, restaurants, cultural venues, sports facilities and public school and day care.. Jernbanebyen will be an inclusive and vibrant neighborhood, welcoming all citizens of the city.
Drawing upon the history of Jernbanebyen, we are shaping this new, green neighborhood. We will preserve and transform several of the existing historical buildings, creating a neighborhood that encompasses both old and new, industrial structures, and modern architecture.
Jernbanebyen has been designated as a global pilot project by the prominent international urban network, C40. Consequently, the ambition for the district is to serve as global inspiration for more sustainable development practices. The completion of Jernbanebyen is slated for 2035, with groundbreaking set to start in 2025. DSB Property Development, Freja Ejendomme A/S, Nrep, Novo Holdings, and Industriens Pension are the key stakeholders driving the development of Jernbanebyen.
